Greetings from the historical and picturesque mining town of Pachuca in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. With already four days of our trip past we are rejoicing in the blessing of the Lord upon the ministry he has opened for us. The team from the states led by Loriann Hodgdon arrived on Sunday evening and was met at the airport by the ever joyful Rodrigo Garcia, who is also the storytelling translator for the Pachuca Children’s Institute. The travels of the team were safe with only one lost suitcase for a day and a half.

Our group here in Pachuca serving at the Children’s Institute and with the Basic Seminar consists of 21 people total, 9 Mexicans who are much better at fútbol (soccer) then our 12 Americans. With joyful music whelming in the hearts of the team and talent to convey the joy, our team has played a song or three wherever we may happen to be. At a Casa de Descanso (rest home) or a town square there is a joyous noise floating through the air. We have been blessed with loving hospitality by Arturo Hidalgo, a native of Pachuca who has opened up his large house to us for our stay. Built by his own hands over the years, his house has been a haven of rest and cozy place for training and preparation.

We began the Basic Seminar on Wednesday Evening in the very first Christian Church in all of Mexico. To have the seminar at this location was a direct answer to the prayer of Ken and Susana Phariss a year and a half ago. It was built in 1900 by the English people who helped settle Pachuca, Mexico. This church is currently the 3rd Methodist church in Mexico and we are thankful for their desire to have the seminar and for their support.

Surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation shown in the cloud capped mountains, the crisp breeze, and the loving fellowship of our Mexican brothers and sisters in the Lord, we rejoice at the work of the Lord in our hearts as we learn from His word and through the power of redeemed lives proclaim the love of God.

Continue to pray for our team that lives would be reached with the transforming power of the Love of God. We begin the Children’s Institute today (Thursday) and are expecting mighty things no matter the numbers. May the peace from our Lord be yours in abundance as your trust is solely in Him.
