Today was filled with lots of fun and excitement. After a brief teacher training session in the morning, we headed off to a nearby open-air market for some souvenir shopping. There we found everything from octopus meat to used books. The colorful market made for a great sample of the Mexican culture, and members of the group enjoyed haggling with the vendors. After several hours of shopping, we headed home for a brief lunch and rest time.

We had another wonderful night at the Children’s Institute and the teachers again did a great job with the skits and teaching time. The painting crew continued their progress on the wall despite attacks by hungry fire ants. Today’s Children’s Institute focus on suffering and patience proved very applicable to our team as four of our girls were sick today (Leah, Amy, Abigail, and Sascha). Although they missed a very exciting day, the girls were able to learn more about each other and the God Who teaches us important lessons through difficult times.
