After safe and uneventful travels, the Guadalajara Team arrived in Mexico yesterday, excited to begin our three weeks of ministry! Today we began training to become teachers for the Children’s Institute that starts in two days. Learning the songs in Spanish has been a challenge for those of us who aren’t familiar with the language, but Vanessa Myers is doing a wonderful job at making sure everyone understands. We also practiced speaking through an interpreter as we got to know one another. We discovered that some of the hardest things to translate are the titles of favorite books, but our translator Enrique did a great job. Hopefully we didn’t wear him out the first day!

It was a great encouragement this morning to hear Mr. and Mrs. Phariss tell us how the Lord brought them to Mexico and how He is expanding their ministry here. We are all excited to be a part of this great work.

The day ended with a team orientation meeting under the palm trees in the yard. We were chased onto the veranda by a rainstorm that was a beautiful show of God’s handiwork. After a great time of prayer and singing on the veranda, we are ready for a good night’s rest.
